New Initiative For A Philosophy With Children Organization In Asia And The Pacific
All main regions in the world, except for Asia and the Pacific, have an organization for philosophy with children. North America has the North American Association for the Community of Inquiry (NAACI), South America has the Centro Latinamericano de Filosfía para Niños (CELAFIN), Europe has SOPHIA and Australia has the Federation of Australasian Philosophy in Schools Associations (FAPSA). The Asia Pacific region therefor needs an organized platform for philosophy with children practitioners or those interested in philosophy with children.  Participants can share, develop and promote best practices but also work on the development of curricula, materials, develop teacher training programs, set up exchanges between institutions and facilitate and encourage international, collaborative research projects.

The name PCYNAP stands for the Philosophy with Children and Youth Network for Asia and the Pacific.  PCYNAP formally met for the first time at the 15th ICPIC held in Jinju Korea July 2011.
